As the state finalized its $46.8 billion budget, a bipartisan group of legislators stepped in and said: no more taxpayer dollars to import wolves into Colorado.
That means:
❌ No new general fund spending to bring in more wolves
✂️ Cuts to funding previously earmarked for wolf acquisition
📢 A clear message: enough is enough
This didn’t come from just one side of the aisle. Leaders like Dylan Roberts, Marc Catlin, Meghan Lukens, and Ty Winter worked across party lines to protect taxpayers and listen to rural communities.
For years, costs tied to wolf reintroduction have grown—and so have the impacts on ranchers and local economies. This budget decision is a step toward accountability and common sense.
👏 We thank the legislators who stood up and did the right thing.
Colorado can—and should—have a smarter, more balanced wolf policy.
