Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced it will not release any new gray wolves this season as part of the state’s wolf restoration effort. Officials say they’re taking extra time to focus on safety for both livestock and wolves and work with ranchers and stakeholders to reduce conflicts. They’ll continue managing the existing wolf population and explore options to resume introductions in winter 2026–2027 while trying to build a self-sustaining population.
